A new Christmas tradition started in our family a few years ago, and it’s one that we all look forward to!
Growing up, our mom gave us each a new ornament on Christmas Eve. I know that it’s a pretty common tradition to add a new ornament to the tree every year, but have you reached the point where you have more ornaments than fit? We had reached that threshold.
Rather than stop the Christmas Eve gift tradition all together, she switched to something that we could always use more of: good socks! It was an immediate hit with everyone in the family. Including my kids who: 1. think that getting socks as a gift is a novelty and 2. will mention “that day when we get new socks at dinner” in conversation.
