This all started with my love of shamrock shakes. I definitely don’t drink as many of those as I should. So, when I walked into a cafe near Saint Patrick’s Day and they had a “shamrock latte special” I just gave them my money.
That drink was an iced matcha latte with a shot of mint syrup. I’ve ordered a matcha latte with mint syrup a few times since then, and many baristas are intrigued/surprised by my request. It’s so good that you should definitely order one! BUT I thought that it’d be fun to try an at home version that replaces the mint syrup with mint tea and honey.
It works and if you come to my house I’ll make you one.
Matcha + Mint Latte
- two mint tea bags
- 4 oz boiling water
- 1 tsp matcha powder
- honey to taste
- ice
- milk
- Steep two peppermint teabags in 4 oz of boiling water for about 1 minute. Remove the teabags and squeeze out the remaining water.
- Add 1 tsp matcha powder and honey to the tea. Whisk vigorously until the matcha is well blended and has created a foam on top.
- Add ice and about 3 to 4 oz of milk. Stir & enjoy!
