Cuppow + Holdster: The Best Travel Mug

With the new year, we’re starting a new weekly series called “Waste Less Wednesdays.” Our passion for preserving Mather Nature is strong, but we recognize that we live in a consumer-driven society. As such, we try to be honest with ourselves about our own consumption, our needs vs. wants, and the opportunities that we have to reduce waste. We are often sharing tips and tricks to reduce our consumption, and this series was born from those conversations.

Today’s post is actually a throwback from 2019, but hoooopdiehoo, this cup is still one of my favorites and standing strong in my beverage vessel rotation.

Did you catch Good Stuff : The Cup Part I? If not, check it out! Also, know that I’m totally joking when I pair them together. They both involve cups, we think they’re both good, but that’s as far as their connection goes.

The cup is really just a wide-mouth Mason jar. The brilliance comes in with its leather zarf (didn’t make that word up, I promise) made by Holdster USA and its sippy cup lid – the Cuppow. Sweet Katie actually bought me this set up about five years ago. She’s the best!

Holdster USA Mason jar sleeves are amazing:

  • Looks *brand new* after 7+ years of use
  • Handsewn cross-stitch. Stitching is completely intact and show no fraying or wear at all
  • Made of genuine full-grain vegetable-tanned leather. The leather looks exactly like it did on day one. I like the worn leather look, but this hasn’t shown any wear and tear. WTF.
  • Designed for a wide-mouth Mason jar. Fits super snug, there’s no slipping.

Cuppow sippy cup lids save the day:

  • I’m somehow still terrible at drinking, so these save me from spilling on myself. #truestory
  • No more dog hair or random dust in my drinks.
  • Perfect for dog walks, car rides, campsites, etc.
  • Makes any Mason jar a cup! No more hitting your teeth off the glass rim – or is that just me?
  • Made in the USA (Massachusetts) from Recycled BPA-Free, Phthalate-Free Plastic
  • Durable, Reusable, and Recyclable
  • Mine lasted for 5 years until I lost it in the back of my utensil drawer – ordered a new one, immediately found the old one, so now I have a lifetime supply, right?

Mason jars are the only cups you need:

  • Glass over plastic
  • Dishwasher safe and otherwise easy to clean
  • Cheap and replaceable, yet durable and long-lasting
  • Even the creepiest old liquids and moldy leftovers can be cleaned out with boiling water

When it comes down to it, I love this combination because it creates the perfect reusable cup for me. It’s durable, beautiful, and most importantly easy to clean and care for. I know that whatever weird stuff I put in my Mason jar, I can clean. Whatever drips on my Holdster somehow magically wipes away without a trace. The tactile pleasure of holding leather, come on, it kicks the ass of stainless steel and silicone any day. I dare you to challenge me on this. This combination of Mason jar, Holdster, and Cuppow, creates a mug I am happy to care for, sip from, and carry with me day in and day out.

I’m astonished that they have all lasted for more than seven years. Do you know how often I lose a drink bottle? Lastly, I love knowing I can take my Cuppow and Holdster anywhere, find a Mason jar once I’m at my destination, and have the perfect packable travel cup. I’m in love with this cup combo and honestly, this is the longest relationship I’ve ever been in.. cups and boyfriends soooo… I’ll leave you on that note.

Do you have one? Do you love it?! Let me know.

Ps. If you’re looking for something to put in your cup, check out Katie’s Golden Milk recipe.

Pps. This song My Cupp was a mega-hit while I was living in Jamaica.

Ppps. I love my Holdster / Cuppow combo so much that it has previously been mentioned in these posts:

  1. Woohoo! After being discourage from trying a cup a few years ago, I decided to give it another try! After reading the blog and then joining “put a cup in it” I I felt like I needed to give it another shot, I will let you know how it goes!
