Best Audiobooks & Podcasts for Road Trips

live seasoned van vacation-16

Hey, hey! I recently completed a couple epic road trips and had the chance to finish a few audiobooks and podcasts. I’m not listing all the awesome audiobooks or podcasts here, but rather my top picks for the Best Audiobooks & Podcasts for Road Trips from my most recent romp. Sometimes I find lists of ‘best blah blah blah’ to be overwhelming, so I decided to keep it short. All of the following are winners, so without any more chitchat, here are my current favorites :

Audiobooks:

If you’re looking for comedy Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris is a hilarious collection of essays from his early upbringing in Raleigh, North Carolina to his present day life in France. David’s quirky voice only adds to his impeccable storytelling.

Bossypants by Tina Fey is an interesting look into Fey’s career and life as a hardworking woman, wife, and mother. I love how this book feels like insider info, giving listeners the background story to all the episodes of 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live we saw a few years ago.

If you’re ready to pay attention and learn more than you ever wished for, download A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. This book is perfect for all audiences, from young kids to older in-laws alike.

Podcasts:

If you’ve never listened to or downloaded a podcast before, do not fear! Simply open your podcast app on your cellphone and search for these titles and hit subscribe or download. It’s truly that simple.

Dirty John details a seriously shitty human being and his willingness to trick, cheat, and treat women horribly. This series of seven episodes is gripping, buckle up.

Terrible, Thanks for Asking is a podcasts that deals with some bummers, but I find it therapeutic to listen to. It increases my empathy for those around me because it reminds me that everyone is dealing with something even if we aren’t aware of it. If you’re new to the podcast, listen to this episode about the Vegas shooting.

How I Built This with Guy Raz is a new favorite of mine. It’s a collection of long-form interviews with successful business owners and entrepreneurs. My recent favorites are Patagonia’s Yvon Chouinard, Ben & Jerry’s, and Burton’s Jake Carpenter.

That’s all for now. If you want to see a list of my favorite podcasts, you can find that here.
