We’re spending three months in Barcelona with a few mini trips squeezed in! You can see our Barcelona posts here, and more Paris posts here.
When we told the boys that we were going to Paris for a few days, one of the things they were most excited about was seeing the Eiffel Tower. Luckily it’s a fairly request to fulfill!
I love how surprisingly big the tower when you’re close to it. You know it’s big because you can see it from so many different points in Paris, but then you get close and BAM it’s huge. It’s just thrilling to see in person.
Visiting the Eiffel Tower
If you’re going for a visit, you have a few options. There are three different floors that you can visit. The first floor has a restaurant, but not much of a view. The second and top platforms have expansive views.
We went all the way to the top for maximum excitement and wind.
I’ve only been to the top once before, and that time we went at night. Obviously going at night is special because of all of the sparkling lights, and so at first I was a little bit disappointed that we were going in the morning, but it turned out to be just as fun.
If you go during the day, it’s easier to identify different buildings and landmarks. The boys loved watching the tiny world going on below, especially the players on the soccer field. So in the end, I day & night visits both have their own special character!
It’s hard to believe that they assumed the original lifetime of the tower would only be 20 years after the 1889 World’s Fair, but I’m so glad that we were able to visit it over 100 years later!
OK, now that you’ve come along for our visit 1000ft above Paris, don’t miss our visit some 60+ ft below the streets of the city!
