Seasoned View Vol. 36

Wow! It’s been nearly a year since I’ve shared a seasoned view. So much has happened since last June! So much has happened since this past March! I hope your spring is starting to lighten up and bloom. Let these bright backdrops carry you through your computer work until you make time for nature each day.

Happy Spring Y’all! While it is snowing in the next county over (insert eye rolls) spring has certainly sprung in North Carolina. This past weekend has been filled with walks, hikes, and long runs in the sunshine. Everywhere I look there is a different daffodil variety in all its glory. The only bummer is the ever-looming threat of drizzle or downpour, so it’s unlikely that I have my DSLR with me. On Saturday, I enjoyed all the new tulips at Duke Gardens and I’m excited to take our sister, Kristin, there later this week to see what else is flourishing. I’ll report back via instastories – follow us here.

Happy December everyone! We love this cozy time of year. Sarah loves it even more now that she lives in a mild climate, just yesterday she walked her dog in a t-shirt! What a dream. Even if the outdoor temperature isn’t below freezing, you can still celebrate the season by adding a little snow to your desktop. We’re sharing some of our favorite images from winters passed. The snowy Christmas tree field will probably be Sarah’s favorite set of images until the end of time. The light, the big flurries, the situation just couldn’t be any more beautiful, no Photoshop involved. Scroll down to see the rest and choose one for your desktop.

You can upload one or all of these photos to use as your desktop background or even as phone and tablet wallpapers.  These images were all shot in the backyard of our childhood home near Shamokin, Pennsylvania. We were lucky enough to grow up on seventy acres of mostly woods, some fields of wildflowers, and just a little bit of mowed lawn.

Happy last day of the first month 🙂 Hopefully, 2018 came about gently, without too much hesitation. I find I can become overwhelmed at the beginning of each year. So many possibilities and dreams and wants, where to start, ya know? I only had a few days like that this January, but each time I felt overwhelmed I turned to my meditation practice. Meditation allows me to put some space in between my thoughts and emotions and myself. It’s my mental health medicine and I cannot thrive without it. If you’d like to join, I send out a Meditative Monday email each week with a guided meditation. Sign up here. But, back to the images…

Happy Monday y’all! It’s July, unquestionably my favorite month of the year. Growing up, Katie and I would have joint birthday parties at the local pool. I still remember splashing around in the sun, getting out only when the smell of the grill wafted over, shivering with blue lips and being wrapped up in a big fuzzy towel then sitting down and opening a pile of presents. I truly feel all kinds of grateful when I think about the happy childhood I had, but seriously, how lucky are July babies? Pool parties every year! Here’s a few summer shots to tide you over at your work station this month.

Happy Monday! Welcome June – so glad you’ve arrived. As I look through my photo archives, I see a trend. Spring and summer, especially May and June tend to be about road trips. I’m always trying to skip away even for just a night or quick weekend trip. I’ve spent the last six out of eight weekends away from home, boppin’ about. Tomorrow I’ll set off once again on a week jaunt around Virginia and West Virginia. At this time last year, I just wrapped up a three week east coast road trip. Here are a few film images from my time down south last spring.
