Seasoned View: Vol. 19

Hello from our mid-fall stay-cation! I didn’t plan to take the week off, but I’ve been spending every free moment during naptime and evenings work on projects rather than blogging. Maybe it’s the change in weather, as we had a fantastic string of foggy and rainy days lately (a nice break from the 80s and harsh sun that was most of September). It really put me in the mood to stay inside and curl up with a good project.

This month’s photos are all pictures that I took this week while hiking our mountain with Alex and Luc, and I think they provide a picture perfect snapshot of this beautiful fall weather.

I’m loving the raindrops image. I’m starting to think that it would make a great photo for a bathroom, especially if mounted this way.

Now I’m going to get back to my pumpkin baking, decorating for halloween, and finally finishing this sweater (with a big update post to come!). While I’m doing all of that, I have Ryan Adam’s cover of Taylor Swift’s 1989. It’s so good! When this NPR review mentioned that he sounded like Bruce, I was sold (and Calder laughed at how easy it is to get me to buy an album).

Unless Sarah checks in from the trail, we’ll see you back here on Monday with some fresh posts. Can’t wait!

Happy Monday! Hopefully you had a nice labor day weekend. Kate spent her holiday at the beach with the family doing all kinds of summer stuff.  I spent it alone in Nepal and while there were no grills and swimming pools, I still managed to have a nice time 🙂  Enjoy this September’s Seasoned View.  You can download any or all of these images to use as  backgrounds and screensavers for your computer, phone or tablet.  Simply click on the link below each photo then right click on the photo and save it to your device.

Happy Monday! If you live in the States, I hope you had a relaxing holiday weekend and your pups survived the fireworks shows.  Did you happen to catch the Women’s World Cup game yesterday?!  It was amazing! I remember watching the U.S.A. win against China in 1999.  The game was broadcasting right after one of my soccer games and one of the coaches actually brought a bulky T.V. and an antenna so the team could sit and watch the World Cup game.  It was so sunny and the glare off the bubble screen was so bad that we were all practically peeing our pants with anticipation during the shootout.  I have no idea how my team did that day or even that season, but watching the U.S.A. team defeat China, with my teammates by my side, is certainly a memory I’ll never forget.  I’m never one to cheer too loudly or buy team jerseys, but looking back, I do have a lot of memories tied to various sports games.  Do you remember where you were during any specific tournaments or Super Bowl games?  What stands out in your mind about the celebrations?  These little memory exercises are a good reminder that I should gather my friends around more often even if I’m not that invested in one team or another.  Sometimes you need a specific event to tie your memories down so they’re not forgotten.  Do you find this is the case for you as well? Another more obvious way that I record memories is through photography.  Below are some recent nature shots for our July Seasoned View.  If you’re down with a dark and moody desktop, download Katie’s spectacular shot of a summer storm; it’s my favorite of the bunch!  You can upload one or all of these photos to use as your desktop background or as phone and tablet wallpapers.  Simply click on the download link below each photo and save the image.  Enjoy!

Merry Monday to everyone 🙂  Hope your weekend was whatever you wanted it to be.  Mine was the perfect mix of work, rest and play.  I saw Mad Max last night in theaters and I was blown away! So good; nonstop action, but not the repetitive kind.  My week is shaping up the same way 😉 Have a good one!

Happy Monday!  It’s May! I can’t believe it.  This year is flyyyying by.  Do you feel that way too?  Today we’re sharing our Seasoned View and it happens to be flowers, flowers and more flowers! I guess April showers really do bring May flowers…  All these images were shot in Colorado, so know that you’re sprinkling a little bit of the Rockies onto your desktop this month.  Have a great week!

Happy Monday Ya’ll!  Seasoned View: (lucky) Vol. 13 today!  I can’t believe Kate and I have been on this blogging adventure for over a year now.  Thank you SO much for following along and remember if there’s something we do that has been driving you crazy this past year, you can tell us in the comments.  We are already aware of how horribly we spell, but besides that bring it on.  Tell us what is up.

Oh yeah, PS. I’m an aunt times two now!! Yep, Katie had her second baby boy yesterday!  Once she is rested I’m sure she’ll give us an update on his stats and the little guy’s name.  Until then, you can upload one or all of these photos to use as your desktop background or as phone and tablet wallpapers.  Simply click on the download link below each photo and save the image.  Enjoy!

Wondering what my desktop actually looks like? I’m a leeeeetle bit embarrassed to show you, but here goes:Screen Shot 2015-04-05 at 10.14.59 PMInitially it looked like the photo above, but I was able to trash a bunch of things and pare it down to this photo:

Screen Shot 2015-04-05 at 10.16.43 PM

Ugh. I know it’s ridiculous, but at least my actual desktop doesn’t look like that, right?! If you look closely, you’ll see one of my folders is “entire desktop” well that little baby also contains folders with the names “everything ever” and “OMG so much stuff” this is what happens when you take and edit photos for a living. So. Much. Stuff.

It’s February! One-twelfth of 2015 is over. That is totally cool with me.  One more month closer to summer says the bitter winter-hater in me 😉  Each month I post a screenshot of my desktop with one of the new seasoned view backgrounds.  Did you notice that it always looks so clean and tidy?  Well, I wanted to let you know that it’s a total illusion.  Each month My desk top really looks like this:

Screen Shot 2015-02-02 at 1.15.31 AM

Then I simply make a folder entitled everything or entire desktop or all of it and select all the crap on my desktop and throw it in there.  I wish housework was that easy!  See? All clean:

Happy New Year!  Katie and I took a major blogging break over the holidays.  We were both busy traveling and celebrating with family, but not each other! During Christmas and New Years, Kate hung out with her in-laws in Colorado and I visited my boyfriend’s family in Pennsylvania.  Our family get together starts today, just in time for Russian Christmas! I can’t wait to see Katie and my little nephew along with the rest of the Schu crew.  Bear with us this week, the blogging may be slow due all the hugs and conversations we need to catch up on.  If you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, these photos will seem a little unrelatable and hey, good for you! If you are currently freezing your bum off in the Northern Hemisphere, know that we’re with you.

Seasoned View: Vol. 8

November is here. I’m in disbelief! Where the heck did October go? All of a sudden there is a serious chill in the air and day light savings time is here.  A new month calls for a new Seasoned View and while perusing through my photo archives, I realized most Novembers I’m traveling. Three years ago I was in Thailand, two years ago I spent the month in Brazil and last year I slept in a tent in northern California for six weeks.  I guess I shouldn’t complain about chilly November weather since history reminds me I haven’t experienced it much, but here I am bundled up under an afghan wondering how I’m going to survive the winter ahead.

This month’s photos are all from high atop Foster Mountain near Willits, CA.  As you can see, half of them are either sunrise or sunset photographs because I was busy working during the day. I hope you don’t mind some natural color palettes this month.   You can upload one or all of them to use as your desktop background or even as phone and tablet wallpapers.  Simply click on the download link below each photo and save the image.  Enjoy!
